Case Studies – Outsourced CFO Positions

  • Regional Financial Services Business to National – CFO for Hire. This business bought six regional businesses and consolidated it into a national firm, providing over twenty-five percent of the nation’s debt instruments.  My work included consolidating all the companies into one unified business, with over 4,000 agents nationally, integrated their twelve year old legacy system with a current QuickBooks Enterprise accounting platform.  I also organized a research project which integrated over 200 separate excel spreadsheets into one unified database for reference of all transactions of the various, previously independent, companies.
  • International food manufacturer – CFO for Hire. This business developed the recipes for their product line consisting of over forty items, outsourced the manufacturing and distributed internationally.  A prior CFO had been fired due to suspected stealing.  I had helped the company develop their QuickBooks Enterprise based financial reporting system so when the CFO was terminated I stepped in to fill that position.  During the following year, all aspects of the financial and accounting departments was groomed.  For the next three months the company went through a due diligence process which culminated in the owners selling a part of the company for many millions of dollars.  The due diligence was conducted by a “Big 4” CPA firm and I was primary point of content.  When the deal was completed with a private equity firm, they brought in their own CFO, who I trained for the next three months.
  • National office accessories creator/distributor – Outsourced CFO. This business creates art sold through designers on a national scope.  The company has historically been selling on a wholesale basis.  In the past year, it implemented a web store for selling retail. With the growth, the company has needed additional capital.  I provided support in presenting the financing package to the bank.  The development of the web store and full integration with the company’s QuickBooks Enterprise system, has resulted in faster processing of orders,  and much faster cash collections.
